Her decision to switch sides wasn’t surprising at all since she felt that fighting for peace with the Gaels would cause the empire to change their ways, which wouldn’t otherwise if she stayed. Compared to Lydia who is very aggressive, Octavia is a very pure and kindhearted woman who wanted to make a difference. While the development in this episode is light, we got to see more of Octavia as a person. Eventually, she gains the trust of everyone after she had a friendly duel with Arthur that convinces him to have her on the team. She explains that her grandfather used it as a medicine to save her life. Also, she comforts Morgan when her heirloom was missing. For instance, eventually starts teaching the two children how to use a sword effectively through the use of wooden ones. In addition, she shows a lot of compassion to the Gaels. With her fighting skills, she impresses the children who were curious. Compared to Arthur, her fighting is fluid and she doesn’t waste energy by exerting unnecessary strength.

Throughout the episode, it was nice to observe her personality. It was nice of her to teach the children. Ultimately, she changes her loyalty while she started interacting with the people in Avalon. Ironically, the army is just as incompetent compared to the rest of the empire when she witnessed Bubulx foolish unplanned attack on the Gaels. She joined the imperial army in order to gain the trust and get to the higher positions to influence them. While she had a very tragic past, it was not so surprising that she wants to change the people who are in charge instead of retribution. She only has his sword that she uses as a remembrance of him. In addition, she lost her brother, whom she is very close with. She faced a rather tragic fate and lost her entire family since the higher ups charged her father with treason. While her older brother didn't make it, he had taught his sister well.įrom the beginning, Octavia seems was a different woman compared to the rest of the empire. This gives her the opportunity to change her allegiance to give her a better outlook. Since the siege at the empire’s base, Octavia finds herself in a new place.
